Undercroft

A vaulted room or crypt, usually beneath a church or chapel.

Undershot wheel

A wheel driven by water passing under it.

United Reform

Term used for the Protestant church formed in the merger between the English Presbyterian and some Congregationalist churches in 1972AD.

Upcast

Upcast is the soil and earth removed when digging a hole or pit.

Urn

A pottery vessel, often of prehistoric date, which is usually of deep proportions with no handles. They are sometimes decorated and were generally used for storage or as a container for the ashes of a cremation.
