Romano-British farmstead north-east of Thornbrough High Barns (Corbridge)

This Romano-British farmstead stands on a low ridge above the former Shildon Lough. Part of it lies beneath a road, but the remainder survives as a standing earthwork. The farmstead is sub-rectangular in shape, measures about 56m by 20m and is enclosed by a ditch with a slight outer bank. An old estate map of Thornbrough High Barns names the farmstead as Bow Bridge. This is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
