| A large block of sandstone was part of the foundations of the 4th century workshops at Corbridge. However, in the prehistoric period a number of cup marks had been carved onto it. These carvings were probably carved in the early Bronze Age or late Neolithic (2800BC to 2300BC). The purpose of these names is not clear though they may have had a religious function.
