Newlands Tower (Belford with Middleton)

John de Middleton was given permission to add battlements to his mansion in 1310. This was known as a ‘license to crenellate’. The tower was still standing in 1415, when it was recorded in a survey. However, no trace of a tower survives in or around the present farm.
