| It has been recorded that a tower was built at Cheswick. It must have been built after 1400, as it was not mentioned in a list compiled at that time. It stood on the north side of the village, but there is no trace of it remaining. Tower houses were often built in northern Northumberland, as protection against raids from Scotland and local outlaws.
