The Palace (Berwick upon Tweed)

This is the site of the palace of Scottish kings from David I onwards. By 1560 it was used by the English governor of the town, but it was in very poor repair. It was probably rebuilt in the later 16th century. Nothing can be seen on the site today, though archaeologists saw the remains of stone walls at a depth of 3-4m in sewer trenches dug nearby.
