Keys to the Past

Blackheddon Farmhouse, Blackheddon (Belsay)

This house was built, of random rubble and Welsh slate, originally in the earlier part of the 17th century. There is a Tudor arched doorway with a dated and inscribed lintel recording the initials of the earlier owners. There are a number of original features - though, unsurprisingly, some modifications have taken place with blocking of some details. These later extensions are of the 19th century. This is a Grade II Listed Building protected by law.

Reference number: N21030
Historical period: Post-medieval (1540 to 1900)
Legal status: Listed Building
