| This house was built, of random rubble and Welsh slate, originally in the earlier part of the 17th century. There is a Tudor arched doorway with a dated and inscribed lintel recording the initials of the earlier owners. There are a number of original features - though, unsurprisingly, some modifications have taken place with blocking of some details. These later extensions are of the 19th century. This is a Grade II Listed Building protected by law. See also: Source of Reference Local History of Belsay Location of this site on a map, with option to view historical maps.
