| Although a fortified medieval tower was recorded here in 1415, Stanton Old Hall was mainly built in the late 16th century. It may include a few remains of the earlier tower. The south end of the building was altered around 1700. It has been suggested that the thicker walls in the north of the building may be the traces of an earlier bastle. This is a Grade II Listed Building protected by law. See also: Source of Reference Local History of Netherwitton Location of this site on a map, with option to view historical maps.
