The Old Vicarage (Ovingham)

This building is called The Old Vicarage. It is a post-medieval building, constructed in 1628. The Old Vicarage stands exactly where a medieval parson’s house stood, We know from historical documents that this house was destroyed by Scottish raiders on three separate occasions; in 1293, 1312 and 1316. In 1378, a priory cell was built on the same spot by Augustinian Canons from Hexham Priory. The Old Vicarage is a Grade II* Listed Building and is protected by law.
