Whitfield House, Front Street, Wolsingham; Listed building (Wolsingham) | |||||||
| The description that follows is the full English Heritage listing for this building WOLSINGHAM FRONT STREET NZ 0737 (South side) Wolsingham 39/359 Whitfield House 31.1.67 GV II* House. Circa 1750. Rendered with plinth, painted ashlar dressings and quoins. Welsh slate roof has stone gable coping and brick and stone chimneys. 3 storeys, 6 windows. 8-panel double door and high patterned overlight in deep panelled reveal, in architrave with hood on large brackets. Sash windows with late C18 glazing bars in plain stone surrounds; moulded coping to ashlar parapet on moulded string, with corner pilasters. Interior: some panelled rooms on ground and first floors; 3 rooms have corner chimneys. Square open-well stair has ramped moulded grip handrail with slender turned balusters, alternate ones fluted, on open string with block tread ends; square panelled newels. Listing NGR: NZ0744737199
