WOLSINGHAM CHURCH LANE (North end) NZ 0737 Wolsingham 39/345 Gate piers, gates and retaining walls to Church of St. Mary and St.Stephen GV II

Gate piers, gates and retaining walls flanking path to church. Mid C19. Sandstone ashlar piers; coursed squared sandstone walls with ashlar dressings; wrought iron gates. 3 chamfered square piers, with plinths and cornices and high overlapping pyramidal coping, form vehicle and pedestrian entrances. Spike-headed gates have dog bars and central band of diagonal pattern with round bosses. Retaining walls have chamfered plinth and coping and taper towards church.
