The Chesters, prehistoric enclosure between Whelpington and Heeston (Kirkwhelpington)
A prehistoric enclosure gave the name `The Chesters' to a field on the east side of the road between Whelpington and Heeston. A 19th century writer describes it as being roughly circular, surrounded by an earth and stone bank. Nothing can be seen at the site today.
The Historic maps option is only available when the map scale is between 2500 and 10000.
