Anglo-Saxon burial near Barrasford (Chollerton)
This mound of stones was originally a Bronze Age burial mound, but when it was excavated in the mid-19th century the remains of an Anglo-Saxon burial dating to the sixth or seventh centuries AD were found. Finds included the remains of a shield, a sword and a knife. Anglo-Saxon burials of this period are rare finds in Northumberland.
