Prehistoric remains near Hallington (Whittington)
A number of remains can be seen at this site. Several stone cairns are probably field clearance cairns of prehistoric date. However, the presence of a cup and ring marked stone suggests that one or more of the cairns may have been used as a burial mound. The discovery of a quern and fragments of pottery suggest that there may also have been a Roman settlement in the area.
