South Hayleazes bastle (Allendale)
The house at South Hayleazes has been rebuilt in the late 20th century, but before this occurred the remains of a possible bastle were visible. The side walls measured one metre thick and other features included the possible site of a ground floor doorway, an upper doorway with windows each side. It seems to have been a rather superior bastle or bastle-type house.
|Historical period:||Post Medieval (1540 to 1901)|
