This church was built in 1824-25 by John and Benjamin Green. It was funded by public subscription and the design was based on the churches at Wark and Greystead. After a fire in 1891, the church was restored by Plummer and Burrell and paid for by the Commissioners of Greenwich Hospital and public subscription.
