Possible site of a Roman camp near Howburn Cottages (Melkridge)

Early 20th century writers reported the remains of a Roman camp in a ploughed field just north of Howburn Cottages. At this time, the remains of ramparts and ditches surrounding a rectangular enclosure could be seen. Today, ploughing has caused the destruction of any visible remains of the camp.
