Turret 42a on Hadrian's Wall (Haltwhistle)
Turret 42a stood on the course of Hadrian's Wall but has been quarried away by stone extraction at Cawfields Quarry. It had been removed at least by the 1960s but fortunately, the original position of the turret is known from the first edition Ordnance Survey map made in the mid-19th century.
|Historical period:||Roman (43 to 410)|
