Southernknowe Shieling (Kirknewton)

These are the remains of a small medieval shieling. It stands on a small area of raised ground on an old river terrace next to the College Burn. It is rectangular in plan with two rooms. It was built with thick stone rubble walls. It is possible that a mound nearby is its midden. This is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
