Coalcleugh Lead Rake (West Allen)
These are the remains of a lead mine dating from before 1690. It was owned by the Blackett Beaumont company which dominated lead mining in Weardale and Allendale until the 19th century. A large number of well-preserved earthwork remains can be seen and traces of several shafts. This is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
