Keys to the Past

Noble Shields farmstead (Tarset with Greystead)

The ruins of a post-medieval farmstead were found here in the 1970s. There were foundations of a building, enclosures with lazy beds, and an area of enclosed meadow and pasture. However, a visit to the site in 1979 found no trace of the farmstead and the area had been cut by drains and was overgrown. Yet, another visit in the 1980s did find the remains building and also traces of a nearby shieling.
