Keys to the Past

Quern (Warkworth)

A stone quern was found here in 1854 when building a new road across Warkworth Moor. In the same year and nearby a creeing trough was found. The quern was probably of Iron Age and Roman dates, and the creeing trough is likely to be medieval or later.
