Newham village (Ellingham)
A settlement is known at Newham from the 13th century. A series of medieval and post-medieval documents record the number of taxpayers and tenants, for example, and give us an idea of the population. The village was once a larger settlement than it is today and the earthwork] remains of former buildings can be seen at the east end.
