Keys to the Past

Enclosed Roman settlement 450m north-east of Belford Mains (Belford with Middleton)

The faint remains of a roughly rectangular camp were seen at this site. It was 30m by 34m and had an entrance on the east side placed near the south-east corner. Little can be seen now, and only a slight stone scatter marks it. Although the site has not been investigated in detail, it is similar in form to Roman settlements.
