Iron Age enclosure, Middleton (Belford with Middleton)

Between approximately 2500 and 3000 years ago, during a period archaeologists call the Iron Age, people created a roughly oval enclosure surrounded by a bank if earth and stones. Archaeologists don't known if the enclosure was a settlement or an animal enclosure, but they don't believe that it was a hillfort.
