Bronze Age cists on Lilburn Hill (Tillside)

Between approximately 3000 and 4000 years ago, in the Bronze Age, people buried their dead in three cists, possibly within a cairn in East Cairnfold field, Lilburn Hill Farm. The cists were discovered and opened in 1886. Two pots, cremated bone and a skeleton were found. One of the pots is now in the Museum of Antiquities, Newcastle upon Tyne.
