Hermitage of Segden (Berwick upon Tweed)
Medieval documents record that a hermitage belonging to the Hospital of St Mary in 1296 was built at Segden or Seggeden. Local traditions believe that a small valley in this area was known as Segden so this may be the site of the hermitage. However, much of the area has now been destroyed by quarrying.
