Shank Burn Medieval Settlement (Alnham)

A number of earthworks belonging to a medieval settlement are found at this site. The rectangular footings of a building can be seen. There are also traces of lazy beds, a form of field system. It is difficult to date simple settlements like this, but similar sites elsewhere in the area date to the medieval period.
