West Hill (Kirknewton)

The remains of a Roman period settlement can be seen on the site of the Iron Age hillfort at West Hill. It has been suggested that the remains of up to twelve of the hut circles visible within the fort may be of Roman date. A slighter outer enclosure surrounds the defences of the fort. This may also be of Roman date. It is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
