Romano-British Settlement (Horsley)

An examination of the field plan at this site has found possible evidence for a Roman (AD43 to 410] settlement. The field name is `Thonichester', and `chester ` is often a name used for old Roman sites. The plan of the early fields shows that a rectangular enclosure has had small fields arranged around it.
