Yardhope Roman camp (Harbottle)
All that can be seen of this rectangular-shaped Roman temporary military camp are cropmarks visible on aerial photographs. The camp lies next to the Roman road which linked the fort of High Rochester with Dere Street, the main Roman Road between the Roman forts at Corbridge in Northumberland and Newstead in Scotland. Yardhope Roman Camp is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
