Chester Hill enclosure (Netherton with Biddlestone)

An encampment was recorded in a field called Chesters in the 19th century. It was described as nearly square. The site has been identified as Chester Hill, near Sharperton, where there was once a square earthwork enclosure on top of the hill. A Roman road passes nearby and this has led to the suggestion that the enclosure dates to that time. No trace of the enclosure is now visible.
