Field system (Brinkburn and Hesleyhurst)

Around Lordenshaws hillfort are several rectangular enclosures and one square enclosure bounded by banks and walls. These small fields are later than the medieval park which occupies the same area. Several clearance cairns can be seen inside them. Archaeologists think the field system was created before 1586. The field system is part of a Scheduled Monument, protected by law.
