Bronze Age barrow (Stamfordham)

A Bronze Age barrow was excavated here in 1926. Two cists containing human bones were found inside the barrow. There may have also been an urn, which is now lost. Some of the stone slabs, which formed the cists, were carved with cup and ring patterns.
