Keys to the Past

Prehistoric Settlement (Matfen)

This is the site of a prehistoric settlement standing on the eastern end of a crag above a steep drop. It is divided into two areas. There are three hut circles. It is likely that these are of Iron Age date. This is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.
