Benfieldside House, Shotley Bridge (Shotley Bridge)

Benfieldside House is recorded as being used as the 27th Durham VA Hospital during WW1 (1). The building first appears on the second edition Ordnance Survey map of 1894-1899 (2). The building was demolished circa 1960 (1) and modern aerial photographs show that the area is occupied by housing(3).
