Balehill, Ramshaw (Ramshaw)
A large area of lead slag has been brought to the surface in this area by rabbits. It seems to run across the brow of the hill and down the slope to the road. There is a 19th century reference to the washing of lead slag from this site. The remains of heaps of charcoal, two water channels and circular earthworks may be related to this industry.
|Historical period:||Post Medieval (1540 to 1901)
