High Grindon (Preston-le-Skerne)
These are the remains of the deserted medieval village of High Grindon. Although its earthworks used to be visible in a field to the northwest of the modern farm on this site, all traces on the ground seem to have vanished beneath the ploughsoil. The remains consisted of a series of banks and ditches forming small enclosures, and a hollow way running along the east and north sides. Traces of these features can still be seen from the air.
|Historical period:||Medieval (1066 to 1540)|
