Possible town ditch, Darlington (Darlington)

The ditch for a suggested earthwork Anglo-Saxon 'burgh' at Darlington. The outline of the earthwork appears to be based on the street plan.

Excavation in 1912, by E. Wooler, did however expose a ditch 8 feet deep and 16 feet wide at the bottom.

Further excavation in 2009 in the Feethams area located a similar feature.
