Site of Pountey's Bridge, Middleton St. George (Middleton St George)

There has been a bridge at this site for a long time. The remains of a possible Anglo-Saxon or Roman bridge were visible in 1834. It was not mentioned when John Leland passed through the area in the first half of the sixteenth century.
