Possible site of Manor House, Gainford Hall (Gainford)

This is probably the site of the medieval manor house of Gainford. Bishop Beck (1283-1310) is recorded as building or repairing a castle at Gainford; this was probably a fortified manor house. Its precise location is not known though it is possible its remains may be the large earthworks behind Gainford Hall.
