First World War memorial west of west lodge to Bowes Museum. Unveiled 1921 and rededicated in 2009. Shaft, approx 2m high, topped with a stone crucifix. Inscription on base of cross at front "To the men of all ranks of the Durham Militia who died 1914-1918"; at rear: 'DLI' (Durham Light Infantry) and the regimental badge. (1 - 3)
