Copley Village Hall was built c1898 as the Copley Literary Institute. It first appears on the third edition Ordnance Survey map as an end terrace building close to the Sunday School and Methodist Chapel on Sun Road (1). On modern aerial photographs (2) and street mapping images (3) the building is stone-built with slate roof tiles and a chimney at each end, a small entrance porch with chimney and bus shelter attached to the front. A small garden is visible behind a low stone wall. It is documented that the hall underwent major refurbishment and was newly reopened in 2003 (4). The building is known to carry a war memorial on the exterior wall of the entrance (5-6).
