The Wesleyan Methodist Chapel of Watergate, Castleside first appears on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1856-65 (1). On modern aerial photographs (2) and Google Streetview (3) this building now looks to be in use as a private residence. It is evidenced that the chapel once contained two rolls of honour dedicated to members of the church who died in the World Wars. By the second edition OS map of 1894-1899 (4) the chapel seems to have relocated to the adjacent building while the former is labelled 'Sunday School'. The original location of the war memorials is likely to be in this second building. The chapel closed in 1970 (5).
